PADI Drysuit Diver course November 2021

Posted on October 11, 2021

Drysuit November changed

PADI Drysuit Diver course November 2021

Extend your diving season! If you want to stay warm and toasty, feeling comfortable in cooler water, you will want to dive in a dry suit.

We will be running the PADI Drysuit Diver course in October/November.
Pool Orientation session – Saturday 30th October (morning)
Lake Dives –  Sunday 14th November

Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you off from the outside water and that keeps you warm! Even in surprisingly cold water. This will greatly extend your diving season here in the UK, you can also comfortably go and play with the Seals off of Lundy or the Farnes!

You will need to do a small amount of home study before the course, this is all now done with the digital PADI home study eLearning material. You don’t need to come to the shop to get the course arranged and access your digital home study, this part of the course can all be arranged via email, the course can be paid for via BACS or credit card, we will then send you the code for your home study, with instructions how to do this, of course however it would be great to see you before hand, so you can always pop into the centre before the course to arrange it all, you will need to fill out a short Medical Questionnaire, along with some other standard paperwork.

Underwater Navigator November 2021

Posted on October 11, 2021

Navigator November

We will be running the PADI Underwater Navigator Diver course on Sunday 14th November.

It can be quite stressful in poor visibility underwater, improve your observation skills and learn more accurately how to use your compass underwater to find your way.

You will need to do a small amount of home study before the course, this is all now done with the digital PADI home study eLearning material. You don’t need to come to the shop to get the course arranged and access your digital home study, this part of the course can all be arranged via email, of course we are more than happy to see you  if you prefer to pop into the shop, we will then send you the code for your home study, with instructions how to do this.
You will need to fill out a short Medical Questionnaire before any in water sessions, be sure to get this sorted with plenty of time.

The water temperature in November is usually around 12 degrees for your thermal protection information, we recommend Drysuits, but if you still want to use a wetsuit, that is your decision.

PADI D.S.M.B Diver Specialty October 2021

Posted on October 8, 2021

We will be running the PADI Delayed Surface Marker Buoy Diver course on Sunday 17th October and Sunday 15th November.

The classroom and pool orientation will take place on Sunday 17th October from 9am, the Open Water qualifying dives will be held on Sunday 14th November.

Surface Marker Buoys should be an integral part of your scuba dive gear. They are an important piece of safety equipment, every diver should really own one.

The purpose of the DSMB Diver specialty course is to give you the knowledge and skills to safely deploy your DSMB/SMB, to know when and where to use it, and to give you a chance to practice these skills in a safe environment rather than on your first boat dive, which could cause problems.

Surface Marker Buoys serve a range of purposes. They are used to:

  • Allow shore cover / boat support an ascending diver
  • Allow boat crew to keep track of buddy teams on a drift dive
  • Alert boat traffic to the presence of a diver
  • Provide a visual reference and line for ascending divers

Equipment Specialist Course January 2022

Posted on September 20, 2021

Equipment Specialist January 2022

We will be running the PADI Equipment Specialist Course on Saturday 15th January 2022.

Don’t miss out on a dive due to a minor equipment issue, take the Equipment Specialist Course.

Whether it’s a blown o-ring, regulator problem, wetsuit tear or a broken fin strap, you can learn how to manage basic scuba equipment adjustments.

You’ll learn about routine care and maintenance procedures as well as scuba equipment storage recommendations. Your instructor will show you how to overcome some common equipment problems and offer equipment configuration suggestions.

You will be taught by a Qualified Service Technician, therefore you get much more detailed information than being taught by a standard PADI Instructor.

The purpose of the course is to familiarise divers with the operation and maintenance of diving equipment. It is not an equipment-repair course.
