PADI Basic Mermaid July

PADI Basic Mermaid Saturday 27th July

Have you ever wanted to be a Mermaid?

The PADI Basic Mermaid™ course combines home eLearning to provide the supporting knowledge and principles of safe ‘Mermaiding’, with a pool session where you will learn the basic skills to safe mermaid diving. The course covers mermaid diving’s background and culture, primary safety considerations, equipment and basic water skills.

To enroll in a PADI Basic Mermaid course you must be 8 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health, and comfortable in the water. No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving or mermaiding is required.

You will need to fill out some basic paperwork before the course, including a standard medical questionniare, and complete the Digital Home study materials before attending the class and pool session.

The PADI Basic Mermaid course consists of two sections:

  • Study independently using PADI Basic Mermaid eLearning
  • A confined pool session to learn and practice basic mermaid diving skills, problem prevention and handling, and how to make mermaid dives

Open Water course August 2024

PADI Open Water course August 2024

Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th  – Pool and Classroom

Saturday 10th – Sunday 11th – Lake Dives

The Open Water Course is your introduction into the underwater world.

Whether you are interested in the explosive kaleidoscope of colours within a beautiful coral reef, or the rusting metal of a wrecked military cruiser, the PADI Open Water Diver Course is the world’s favourite way to get there.

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be weightless? Do you want to find out what your mates have been banging on about all this time? Sign up to the Open Water course to learn.

You will start with your Home Study, by reading all of your tablet/pc based eLearning material at home at your own pace, you will learn about many different aspects of diving theory, equipment, safety, skills, and what to expect during your course.

You don’t need to come to the shop to get the course arranged and access your digital home study, this part of the course can all be arranged via email. The course can be paid for via BACS or credit card, we will then send you the code for your home study, with instructions how to do this. Of course however, it would be great to see you before hand, so you can always pop into the centre before the course to arrange it all.

You will need to fill out a short Medical Questionnaire, along with some other standard paperwork. You do this via email or in person.

Our Professional and friendly Instructors and Divemasters will make sure that your journey to becoming a qualified diver is the fun and stress free adventure that it should be.

Open Water and Drysuit Combination

If you are intending to dive in the UK, you will need to learn how to use a Drysuit to allow you to stay warmer for longer in the cooler waters of the UK. If you do your Open Water Diver course with us in the earlier and latter parts of the year, we will only take you in the water in a Drysuit due to the water temperature. We offer a huge discount off of the PADI Drysuit Diver course when you take it alongside your Open Water course. Please see the Packages page, this is the Open Water UK Diver Combination Package

If you would prefer to complete your qualifying dives on a holiday you already have booked, you can do the Classroom and Pool section of this course, this is called the Open Water Referral Course. Follow this link to find out more about this option.

PADI Drysuit Diver Course in July / August 2024

PADI Drysuit Diver Course in July / August 2024

PADI Drysuit Diver course in July / August 2024

Extend your diving season! If you want to stay warm and toasty, feeling comfortable in cooler water, you will want to dive in a dry suit.

We will be running the PADI Drysuit Diver course in July/August 2024
Pool Orientation session – Saturday 27th July (9:30am start)
Lake Dives –  Sunday 11th August

Unlike a wetsuit, a Drysuit seals you off from the outside water, this keeps you much warmer, even in surprisingly cold water. This will greatly extend your diving season here in the UK, meaning you can make the most of the autumn, and with the correct undersuit, you could dive throughout the winter.
Using a drysuit will allow you to comfortably go and play with the Seals off of Lundy Island or the Farnes!

You will need to do a small amount of home study before the course, this is all now done with the digital PADI home study eLearning material. You don’t need to come to the shop to get the course arranged and access your digital home study, this part of the course can all be arranged via email, the course can be paid for via BACS or credit card, we will then send you the code for your home study, with instructions how to do this, of course however it would be great to see you before hand, so you can always pop into the centre before the course to arrange it all.

You will need to fill out a short Medical Questionnaire, along with some other standard paperwork,  you can do this via email or in person.

The pool orientation is where you will get to grips with using the drysuit, for this you only need to wear tracksuit bottoms and a long sleeve top, as the thermal undersuit would be too hot in our warm pool. We then get you to the lake to carry out your two qualifying dives in an open water environment.

Find out more about this course…

Lake dates subject to change if they close the M25 again in August on this weekend.
