Underwater Navigator Diver Course April 2022

Posted on February 18, 2022

Navigation April 2022

We will be running the PADI Underwater Navigator Diver course on Sunday 10th April 2022.

It can be quite stressful in poor visibility underwater, improve your observation skills and learn more accurately how to use your compass underwater to find your way.

You will need to do a small amount of home study before the course, this is all now done with the digital PADI home study eLearning material. You don’t need to come to the shop to get the course arranged and access your digital home study, this part of the course can all be arranged via email, of course we are more than happy to see you if you prefer to pop into the shop, we will then send you the code for your home study, with instructions how to do this.

You will need to fill out a short Medical Questionnaire before any in water sessions, if you have had Covid, you will need to get that medical form cleared by your GP, be sure to get this sorted with plenty of time.

The water temperature in April is usually around 8 to 10 degrees for your thermal protection information, we recommend Drysuits, but if you still want to use a wetsuit, that is your decision.

Christmas Gift Vouchers 2021

Posted on December 16, 2021

Christmas Gift Vouchers

If you have left it to the last minute, no problem!
We’ve got you covered!

Are you stuck for a gift for your loved one this Christmas
Are they fed up with socks?? – unless they are drysuit socks of course 😉

A gift voucher from Ocean View could be your answer.

If your partner, family member or friend is already a diver, we can offer vouchers of any amount over £5.

With a Discover Scuba Diving Gift Voucher, you can get an amazing experience for your family member or friend to give Scuba Diving a go for the first time. Then as an added bonus, once they have done the Discover session, they can get the Introduction section of the Open Water course for free, to get them hooked.

If you know someone who is already a diver, and wants some new dive kit, a voucher for any amount over £5 can be purchased to go towards their new shiny dive kit. Or why not get a voucher for one of the many PADI courses we offer, this would be a fantastic gift for a current diver to progress with their training, the diver can then book the course when they are free to arrange it.

Even if you leave it till the last minute, a PDF voucher can be arranged really quickly.

We look forward to seeing you all

Call or email for more details.

Open Water Referral Course February 2022

Open Water Referral February 2022

Open Water Referral Course February 2022

We will be running the PADI Open Water Referral course in February 2022.
Saturday 5th – Sunday 6th February – Pool and Classroom

The Open Water Course is your introduction into the underwater world.

The PADI Open Water Referral course allows you to do most of your course before you go on holiday. You can start your Open Water course here with us, completing the Knowledge Development and Confined (pool) dive portion of the course, completing the qualifying dives on your holiday, this makes sure your holiday is spent exploring the underwater world and not in a pool or a classroom.

Here at Ocean View, we understand how exciting the world of scuba diving is but also we appreciate that spare time may be the only thing that is holding us back.

We also realise that your holiday time is also treasured and not to be wasted, after all, your holidays are very well deserved.

Whether you are interested in the explosive kaleidoscope of colours within a beautiful coral reef or the rusting metal of a wrecked military cruiser, the PADI Open Water Diver Course is the world’s favourite way to get there.

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be weightless? Do you want to find out what your mates have been banging on about all this time?

Our Professional and friendly Instructors and Divemasters will make sure that your journey to becoming a qualified diver is the fun and stress free adventure that it should be.

Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver Course March 2022

Posted on December 10, 2021

PPB March 2022

We will be running the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver course on Sunday 13th March.

Mastering neutral buoyancy means controlling where you are in the water, you glide effortlessly over coral reefs, taking in the beautiful aquatic life whilst ensuring that you don’t disturb or damage it. Buoyancy control means longer dive time due to reduced air consumption.

You will need to do a small amount of home study before the course, this is all now done with the digital PADI home study eLearning material. You don’t need to come to the shop to get the course arranged and access your digital home study, this part of the course can all be arranged via email or phone, the course can be paid for via BACS or credit card, we will then send you the code for your home study, with instructions how to do this. Of course it would be great to see you, so you can drop into the centre to arrange the course as well. You do however have to turn up in person for the dives 😉

The water temperature in March is usually around 7 degrees, we HIGHLY recommend you are Drysuit trained before taking this course for thermal protection. If you are not drysuit trained, we are running the PADI Drysuit Course lake dives over this weekend, with the pool orientation on Sunday 13th February, take that course instead, we can then arrange to do the Peak Performance Buoyancy course with you another time or have you join us at the lake for 2 days.

PADI D.S.M.B Diver Specialty March 2022

Posted on December 10, 2021

DSMB Feb Mar 2022

PADI D.S.M.B Diver Specialty March 2022

We will be running the PADI Delayed Surface Marker Buoy Diver course on Saturday 12th February and Sunday 13th March.

The classroom and pool orientation will take place on Saturday 12th March from 1pm, the Open Water qualifying dives will be held on Sunday 13th March.

Surface Marker Buoys should be an integral part of your scuba dive gear. They are an important piece of safety equipment, every diver should own one.

The purpose of the DSMB Diver specialty course is to give you the knowledge and skills to safely deploy your DSMB/SMB, to know when and where to use it, and to give you a chance to practice these skills in a safe environment rather than on your first boat dive, which could cause problems.

Surface Marker Buoys serve a range of purposes. They are used to:

  • Allow shore cover / boat support an ascending diver
  • Allow boat crew to keep track of buddy teams on a drift dive
  • Alert boat traffic to the presence of a diver
  • Provide a visual reference and line for ascending divers
