Evening Dives 2023

Dive Club Evening Dives

Experience some local wrecks, drift and pier dives, there’s a lot to see out there.

We have the summer schedule from Channel Diver.
The Season has started.

As we said in the last newsletter, we are having a shake up this year with our evening dives, the dives will no longer just be on a Thursday evening, in previous years this limited us to a fair few drift dives because of the tide times. Now there is nothing wrong with gentle drift dives, if you are a new diver, going in the sea for the first time, they are a great intro to UK diving.

But we know most of you want a bit more variety, so we are very excited to give you the new dates from Channel Diver, which are mainly local wreck dives, BUT please be aware of the depths of the wrecks, ensure you have the depth allowance on your training to make the dives safely. Anything below 18m will require at least your PADI Advanced certification, or equivalent from other training agencies.

We will be going out of Brighton Marina onboard the lovely and spacious Channel Diver, with skipper Steve, and Caroline. This is a lovely big boat with everything you could need, including the all important and much loved lift at the back of the boat for easy exits out of the water.

BOAT RULES

The boat goes with a minimum of 6 divers, but can carry a maximum of 12 divers.

Make sure you have your own DSMB and Reel
NO DSMB…..   NO DIVE.

Please note: the ropes away time is when the boat leaves the marina, make sure you are there in plenty of time to park up and get yourself and your kit onto the boat. The tides wait for no one, if you are late, the boat will have to go without you.

BOOKING RULES

IF YOU BOOK A SPACE, YOU NEED TO TURN UP

IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT ANY LONGER, YOU NEED TO EITHER:
FIND A REPLACEMENT DIVER
OR YOU NEED TO PAY FOR THE SPACE

TO SECURE YOUR SPACE WE WILL NEED your Credit Card details  to be held securely at the dive centre to ensure we don’t have to cancel the whole dive if someone cannot make it but doesn’t find a replacement diver, (we will forward the details to the boat to take payment if you are a no show).

Please drop into the centre before hand to secure your space, or if you live too far away, call us up and give us card details to hold. You can then pay the skipper on the day of the dive, If you don’t turn up, we will pay the skipper for your space.

IF YOU CANNOT GO, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FILL YOUR SPACE, WE CANNOT GIVE REFUNDS AS THE BOAT WILL HAVE HELD THE BOOKING FOR US.
Also if you dropping out means that the minimum number of divers is not 6, then the other divers would lose out, which is not fun for anyone.

The above does not apply if the weather stops the boat from going out, the skipper makes the final call, always with safety of divers being the most important factor.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THIS BEFORE RESERVING A SPACE

DROP IN or CALL US TO BOOK YOUR SPACE

Itinerary Highlights:
(always weather dependant)

St. Johns
St Johns is a vast collection of small reefs offering some of the most remote and rewarding diving in the Red Sea. This incredibly beautiful reef lies a short distance north of the Sudanese border. The reef covers a huge area and many dives would be needed to explore the numerous coral heads and islands. Habili Ali offers giant gorgonians and black corals whilst grey reef, silvertip and schools of hammerhead sharks might be found on the west side. Habili Gafaar is a mass of soft corals teaming with shoals of snappers, butterfly fish and barracudas. Mantas, grey reef and silvertip sharks can often be seen in the blue.

Red Sea 2021 Polaroid 4

Gota Soraya
Rated as possibly one of the best wall dives in the Red Sea, with overhangs and cracks in the reef wall full of glass fish and sweepers and an abundance of corals, Grey Reef, Silvertips and Hammerhead sharks.

Ocean View Red Sea Liveaboard Polaroid 7

Fury Shoals
At Fury Shoals, dive Sha’ab Claude with its famous swim-throughs and huge porite corals. White tip reef sharks and an anemone and clownfish settlement can be seen a little off the reef to the South. Abu Galawa Soraya has a fantastic coral garden and a wreck of a private sailing boat populated with glass fish.

Red Sea 2021 Polaroid 5

PLEASE NOTE:
You don’t need a minimum number of dives, but you should be comfortable with drift dives, as currents can be unpredictable and strong. If you are an Open Water Diver, some dives are below 18m therefore we recommend having advanced experience or taking your PADI Advanced Open Water course on board to maximise your enjoyment from the trip. Inexperienced and beginner divers may find some dives challenging and may be asked by the Cruise Director to skip dives that are not suitable for their diving experience. All diving is made from zodiacs to give precise entry and exit points.
