PADI Specialty Instructor

If you have a specific passion within diving, teach other divers and involve them further in the underwater world. Become a PADI Specialty Instructor

Specialty InstructorThe Specialty instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips and hands-on experience for meeting the requirements of the course. With your Course Director, you will be guided on how to best teach the courses and to maximise the students development.

You can choose from any of the 25 standard specialty courses that PADI offers along with distinctive specialty courses your Course Director may offer.

Having five specialty instructor ratings is a prerequisite for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating.

Don’t see a specialty on a subject that interests you? Write your own specialty! It’s easy and it gets you teaching scuba divers about things you like.

It’s not just certified Instructors that can take the Specialty Instructor training courses. PADI Assistant Instructors, instructor candidates in training and PADI Divemasters are able to take the next step in certain specialty instructor courses. Some specialties have additional prerequisites and exit requirements. Ask your PADI Course Director for details.
