ocean view scuba diver

At the start of a new diving season you'll probably think about getting yourself in shape for all that underwater activity – never mind lugging all that kit around the car park!

Help and Advice
Rinse in warm water to prevent build-up of harmful deposits. If hoses are rolled up for storage – keep it loose and do it gently!

• As with all regs, keep a check on the mouthpiece – they aren’t designed to last forever (replace mouthpiece BEFORE it falls apart!)
• Make a spare mouthpiece and a tie-wrap a standard part of your kit
• Check hoses and connections for any signs of wear or damage
• SERVICE ANNUALLY
Strip, clean/replace all servicable parts

And another thing: be careful where you lay them down. Grit, mud, grass etc do not live happily with the delicate workings! DON’T FORGET to replace first-stage dustcap!
Service Tips
Service Tips

Service Tips "BC DUMP"

Rinse well after diving and make sure there are no ‘foreign objects’ interfering with operation
• Check for air leakage
• Check hose for any perishing, cracking or other damage
• SERVICE ANNUALLY

Strip, clean/replace all servicable parts

And another thing: check BCD webbing and buckles regularly for abnormal wear. Periodically flush bladder with warm ‘baby bottle’ sterilising solution (always a good idea after a Red Sea trip!)

Service Tips BC

Service Tips BC "INFLATE"

Rinse with warm water after diving – it helps to dissolve and remove salt residue

• Check connector post for build up and/or corrosion
• Check that inflator valve is not sticking – a sure-fire way to suffer a rapid ascent
• SERVICE ANNUALLY

Strip, clean/replace all servicable parts

And another thing: check ALL of your dump pulls for wear and have replaced as necessary with authorised parts!

Service Tips

Service Tips "PONY REGULATOR"

USE IT!
Even there is no need. It is good practice to ‘breathe’ your pony reg occasionally to keep it in good working order

• Check mouthpiece (even if it hasn’t been used the silicon can still degrade in time)
• Check for any signs of freeflow. A quick ‘tweak’ may well be all that is necessary
• Check hoses and connections for any signs of wear or damage
• SERVICE ANNUALLY

Strip, clean/replace all servicable parts

And another thing: keep safely clipped during dive. Take care when putting kit down – pony regs have a knack for finding their way under cylinders!
