We like to put on a fairly special trip every year if possible, trips like the Maldives in 2013, the Sardine Run in 2011 and Truk Lagoon in November this year! Obviously, these trips need to be booked up fairly well in advance, so here are the details for our 2016 trip.
Dates: 6th – 21st April 2016
Region: North Sulawesi
Accommodation
7 nights full board at theTasik Ria Resort and 7 nights full board at the Lembeh Resort
Indonesia is one of the world’s greatest areas for marine biodiversity. It contains 10-15% of the world’s coral reefs and a huge variety of marine species; from the smallest critters to the largest pelagic. The area is well-known for its macro life and species are still being discovered! The diversity of corals and animals is, beyond doubt, some of the best in the world and a diving trip to Indonesia will be one you never forget!
Tasik Ria Resort and Spa
Tasik Ria Resort & Spa is North Sulawesi’s unique resort for divers, families and adventure seekers. Situated a 30 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Manado, this palm fringed, family-run resort offers not only luxury and comfort but also an extremely warm and hospitable environment.
The Diving
Just 45 mins boat ride away from the resort, The Bunaken Marine Park stretches over 75,000 hectares in the deep waters of the Sulawesi Sea and offers more than 50 wonderful dive sites. The park consists of five islands: Siladen, Montehage, Nain, Bunaken and Manado Tua, which is a magnificent extinct volcano. The park is accessible every day by boat and the islands are surrounded by beautiful coral reefs, home to an incredible array of marine life. With depths ranging from 3 to 1300 meters, there are many endemic species and diving here is definitely a unique experience. From the smallest critters to larger pelagics, the park has it all and with a year-round water temperature of 26 to 29 degrees Celsius, it is a destination for all seasons.
Lembeh Resort
The Resort is located on the island of Lembeh, just off the Coast of Sulawesi Island. The Islands are separated by the famous Lembeh Strait, which is considered by divers the ‘Macro Paradise’ of the world.
The Diving
This area benefits from more than 40 dive sites, and is a macro-lover’s paradise. All dives are done by boat and most sites are just 5 – 15 minutes away. Many of the dives are in shallow bays, making it ideal for those who like to take their time and enjoy long dives. Most of the sites are ‘muck-diving’, which gets its name from a muddy or ‘mucky’ seafloor. The muck is a perfect habitat for unusual, exotic and/or juvenile organisms that thrive on this type of environment. Rare nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, and mimic octopus are some of the creatures you will encounter on these dives.
All dive sites are subject to weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
This is obviously a very special trip, so plenty of time to save.
